Frequently Asked Questions

  • We are a dog friendly company and welcome dogs aboard all of our trips for no extra charge!

Please note that should your boat trip depart from Smeatons Pier, there is a section where dogs must be off the ground (carried or pushed in a buggy) due to the health and safety requirements of the commercial fishing area. If your dog is large and this will be a problem, please contact us so that we can recommend an alternative trip time which departs from Rampers where this is not a requirement.

  • We have welcomed many people with restricted mobility of varying levels and will always do our utmost to assist. Both of the boarding points for the boat trip are accessed via steps. There are no ladders or climbing. Smeatons Pier has the easiest boarding option at high tide. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and we can recommend the best option.

  • Yes we have a fully functioning toilet aboard.

  • Yes certainly, food and drink is permitted aboard. Alcohol is only permitted on private charters.

  • No! Our youngest ever passenger was 9 days old and our oldest (that we know of!) was 94. Children 12 months old and under can come aboard for no charge and do not need to have a purchased ticket.

  • There is enough seating areas for our maximum capacity of 12 people with plenty of room.

  • Unfortunately we are not covered by insurance for this and any fishing equipment used must be that owned by Tiger Lilly St Ives.

  • The golden question! Maybe, maybe not. We cannot guarantee sightings of any marine life, although we are confident on the seals, who are very predictable! Dolphins are free and in the wild, moving very quickly and whilst we do see them regularly, it is always a possibility and not a given.

  • If the Captain cancels the trip due to unfavourable sea or weather conditions, we will give you as much notice as possible however sometimes this can be on the day due to the changeable conditions on our coast. We will offer you an alternative date and if this isn’t suitable, a full refund.

  • Missed trips due to lateness will not be refunded. We run to a schedule which must fit in with the workings of St Ives harbour and other users and we cannot wait for you if you are late. Please call us if you know you will be late with as much notice as possible and if we can resell your tickets, a refund or an alternative time may be possible.

  • Trips can be cancelled by customers with a minimum of 48 hours notice before the date of your trip. Please note that we retain the £1.25 card charge for online bookings in these circumstances. Any less notice and refunds will only be given if we are able to resell the tickets or at management discretion.
